Offroad Protection You Need… Now!

What else can Paint Protection Film go on?

Paint Protection Film (PPF) has been gaining rapid popularity among sports cars and high-end performance vehicles for good reason. It allows you to drive your heart out without the concern of damaging your paint. Thus protecting your investment, getting you more out of it when you own it and go to sell it. Track cars and daily drivers can benefit from paint protection, your off-road truck or vehicle absolutely deserves the same.

With PPF designed to stop rock chips and scratches from damaging your paint, the nature of off-roading leave your paint begging for the most tangible and robust protection it can get. Our PPF will effectively stop the vast majority of any damage you can cause from racing through dirt, gravel, mud, or dense brush and branches. For a lot of us, we invest a lot of our hard-earned money into our trucks and off-road rigs, from performance parts and tunes to aesthetic parts like wheels and overland accessories. It makes a lot of sense to protect that investment using STEK’s Paint Protection Films.

Protection that gives you a custom look.

Yes, truck bedliner can be sprayed on like paint, and it won’t scratch as easily as your factory paint, but it’s not exactly a great look and you will never be able to get your vehicle back to a clean factory finish if you decide you want to change it. So we suggest looking at Paint Protection Flim; here at STEK, we’ve pioneered colored Paint Protection Films, patterned Paint Protection Films, and have timeless clear Matte or Gloss paint protection films, too. Most of these belong to our family of what we call, Fashion Films. The ability to change the look of your offroad vehicle at the same time as protecting the paint gives you a lot to consider.

Traditional color change wraps are made of vinyl, a much thinner material and a different, less protective plastic. The trade-off is that vinyl can more easily get scratched, punctured, and damaged by the environment, often only lasting 1-3 years. Each of our Fashion Films and clear paint protection films comes with a 10-year warranty, so your investment is protected for the long term of your ownership. We’re able to offer this warranty through the high-quality raw materials we source, the addition of a top-coat that provides hydrophobic and self-healing layers (more on that later), and using a thick, durable thermoplastic polyurethane that can withstand damage from the vast majority of debris, scratches and UV degradation.

STEK PPF in the real world.

We had a chance to see some very stylish Ford Raptors offroading with the Raptors and Rifles crew and a handful were sporting our DYNOmatte, transparent matte PPF. You can see in the images below that our matte PPF elevates the sharp body lines of these trucks and gives a sleek satin finish that turns heads both on and offroad. Traditionally, matte paint is extremely difficult to care for, and scratches lead to needing a full repaint; with our PPF, the light surface scratches simply dissolve and “self-heal” under the sun’s heat or with the application of hot water. That is how, even after a weekend full of hard driving off-road, these still looked as clean as this.

How does PPF make your truck different?

These trucks above are both clean and mean, but if you want in-your-face, you can turn to our patterned PPF, or a variety of other colors STEK offers. A popular option for accents, or in some cases a full body is our DYNOcamo. This film is continuing to be developed into a larger pattern but we must say, even the current design looks pretty dang cool. Photos from Finish Line Custom Detailing in Colorado.

The biggest difference you’ll experience on a truck with PPF vs. a truck without PPF, is just how good it looks and for how long. We had a chance to talk to the team driving during the R & R Offroad event in Texas and they let us know that despite all the other modifications they had done to their trucks, which was an extensive and expensive list, they hadn’t had people stop and look at it, or take photos. Once they had our DYNOmatte installed, people immediately stopped with cameras out and necks turned all the time.

The R&R team also mentioned that after a trip to Mohab, where they were bush-wacking using their trucks, they were sure the truck and film would be scratched. To their surprise, when they went to go wash it, the sun allowed our top coat to self-heal, and none of the scratches were visible. The PPF stood up to the harsh offroad environment, and they got to experience the best of both worlds: a purpose-built truck driving in the environment it was made for while being able to clean it right back up to a pristine condition ready for the showroom.

Each of our series of paint protection films also has a ceramic-infused top-coat; acting just like a ceramic coating,. It creates a strong hydrophobic layer that makes water bead up and run the dust and dirt to the right to the surface. This is huge if you’re washing your truck yourself, you’re saving yourself time. Not to mention it looks pretty cool to run the pressure washer over it to show off to your buddies too.

Check out our full conversations with the Raptors and Rifles team, learn about their trucks, and why this is one of the coolest veteran and first responder organizations we’ve had the privilege of working with so far:

We shouldn’t stop there though…

The team at STEK USA was lucky enough to spend the full weekend with these veterans and first responders, along with over 60 Ford Raptors and various other trucks, to connect with good people and offroad at their Eagle Canyon Raceway event. Expanding beyond sports and track cars, these worthy offroad machines and incredible people behind them captured the spirit of fun. Something we hope our products help connect people to no matter where they live their best life.

If you’ve been thinking about what else PPF can be applied to, we have too. We are in the development of a specific Marine PPF product line and have seen our films used on a variety of high-end sports and fishing boats, motorcycles, UTV’s, fridges, countertops, and electronic. Our pursuit of excellence is branching beyond our traditional automotive roots and we’re excited to take you with.
